Paper applications are old news
The online service studyinfo.fi from the Finnish National Agency for Education is a one-stop service for anyone looking for a place of study. The application and selection process has been digitalized from start to finish and almost all education options can be found on one website. Paper forms will no longer be needed; instead the applicant will save an electronic form to Opintopolku.fi. The portal was built as a part of the national Action Programme on eServices and eDemocracy (SADe programme).
Everything in one place and easy to manage
A person looking for a study place through the Finnish joint application system will fill out an application at Opintopolku.fi for the places they wish to attend. When available, information on the applicant’s grades will automatically be loaded onto the system. By logging in to the My Opintopolku.fi service, the applicant can see their results and accept their study place. At the same time, the applicant can also apply for student financial aid from the Social Insurance Institution of Finland, Kela. When Opintopolku.fi was launched, it was possible to shut down several older systems. Now that all information is concentrated in one place, it is also easier to manage. By handling the education planning and applications electronically, there will also be cost savings.

The development process includes implementing new versions daily. The success of the project was guaranteed by including experts from the Finnish National Agency for Education in development, management and testing
