""Hi, I'm Leena Virta-Niemi and I work at Gofore as a procurement specialist. In my role as a procurement specialist, I help our customers at different stages of competitive tendering. I'm often involved already in the information request stage, asking the necessary questions and talking to potential suppliers. As the procurement process proceeds, I help to draw up the necessary documents and the actual request for a tender in what today is an electronic competitive tendering system. It's often also my responsibility to manage the overall timetable of the procurement process and ensure that we stick to it. As a purchasing specialist, I need to be familiar with the Act on Public Procurement and Concession Contracts and the Act on public contracts in special sectors, and the application of JHS 166 (general terms of contract of the public administration's IT procurement). I can also recommend to our customers various practices concerning procurement quality criteria, forming the comparison price, and evaluating offers. It is important in this role to be persistent in getting the facts and a desire to do one's best to make the customer's acquisition a success. The work of a procurement specialist requires accuracy and sometimes a lot of patience. You learn to know a lot of different kind of people, and every organisation has something new about it. Gofore has offered me freedom and responsibility to train myself and to get the information I need for my work. I have been allowed to improve my professional competence in my own way and at the same time have a ringside seat to see what is going on in the procurement market."
