Gofore's acquisition of Huld has been closed today, 1 September 2025. The Huld acquisition aligns with Gofore's strategy to grow by acquisitions and significantly enhances Gofore's Intelligent Industry and Security businesses while introducing a new area of expertise in Space business.
– This significant acquisition is a well-timed and apt investment in Gofore’s growth. It has received an extremely positive reception from our own crew, customers, and investors alike, as our strategic fit is evident. I am very excited about our prospects in both the Intelligent Industry business and the expanding Security business, not to mention the fascinating and new Space, which is becoming increasingly essential in defence, and climate change mitigation, says Gofore CEO Mikael Nylund.
The position of a strategic partner in the industry
Huld’s expertise doubles the number of employees in Gofore’s Intelligent Industry business and expands its knowledge and customer portfolio. With the acquisition of Huld, combined with Creanex simulators acquired in 2023, Gofore enhances its offering in areas such as the development of embedded systems, the cybersecurity of machines, devices, and production, as well as functional safety. This strengthens Gofore’s ability to take on increasingly comprehensive digital lifecycles of machines and devices, along with software-driven production. Additionally, the Huld acquisition brings entirely new expertise in mechanical design and technical documentation.
– The industrial future lies in value-generating digital services built on increasingly smarter devices. The rapidly changing operational environment requires innovation and swift product development, as well as resilience and change capability. Our customers expect from a partner not only a deep understanding of their business but also a continuous ability to create value and a solution-oriented approach. Together with Huld, we position ourselves as a strategic partner for our customers, says Outi Määttä, Director of Gofore’s Intelligent Industry business.
Domestic background an advantage in defence
Huld’s acquisition also significantly strengthens the business of Gofore’s Security sector and expands it from internal and civil security to the field of defence. Huld is a respected player in the defence sector, and the acquisition brings with it the capabilities and facilities that meet the high security and other special requirements necessary for growth in the industry. Huld is currently contributing to the technology development for Finland’s F-35 fighter aircraft fleet.
– The geopolitical situation has significantly increased the need to prepare for more diverse threats. Additionally, the importance of dual-use has been emphasised, requiring new capabilities, and collaborative development between actors from the civilian sector as well. In Finland, we are now a domestic, versatile partner for our customers in providing digital security and security of supply, as well as in secure software for defence solutions, states Markus Asikainen, Director of Security business at Gofore.
Huld has decades of experience in projects related to defence, national security, and security of supply. In space, Huld provides critical control systems for satellite platforms as well as scientific processing for atmospheric measurement and imaging tasks. Huld works with security-critical, tested and validated software that has operated for years in harsh space conditions.
Huld has supplied software for space instruments from ESA’s Envisat to the International Space Station (ISS) as well as to the PLATO, Sentinel, and Biomass satellites. Huld is also involved in a project with ESA and the Finnish Meteorological Institute to develop greenhouse gas and methane measurement at the Arctic Space Center in Sodankylä.
Collaboration underway immediately
Huld’s integration into the Gofore Group brings synergy benefits that will be utilized right away to benefit customers. Integration plans will be implemented with a focus on the customer benefits of the Intelligent Industry business. Gofore and Huld have several common customers, for whose product lifecycle management the partnership will not only provide enhancements but also new opportunities. Huld’s customers include ABB, AGCO-Valtra, Airbus, ESA (European Space Agency), KONE, Metso, Valmet, and Wärtsilä.
The business transaction was announced on 4 July 2025. It received an approving decision from the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority on 14 August 2025, which was one of the conditions for the completion of the transaction. The entire share capital of the Huld Group (RDV Holding Oy) was transferred to Gofore today, and all Huld’s partners became owners of Gofore. Huld’s financial figures will be reported from 1 September 2025 as part of the Gofore Group reporting.
