Gofore announced today a new service that consolidates the use of artificial intelligence in companies into a manageable whole on a single platform. The AI Landing Zone service helps put an end to the so-called mushrooming phenomenon, which refers to the uncontrolled adoption of individual AI applications, and enables more effective utilization of artificial intelligence.
The emergence of generative artificial intelligence has led to a surge of various AI experiments and applications within organisations. According to Gartner, 74% of CEOs believe that AI will be the technology that most impacts their business in the future, yet its business benefits have so far been meager. Business leaders expect that AI will genuinely begin to enhance customer value and experience, build competitive advantage, or streamline operations. According to research published by MIT this August, 95% of corporate AI pilots, however, fail.
The sprawling utilization of artificial intelligence has created a new kind of headache. Each AI application may be built with its own environment and management, which consumes resources and generates costs. However, the biggest problem seems to be that the data security and protection of AI usage often do not withstand scrutiny.
– Mushrooming is expensive, uncontrolled, and unsafe from both an individual and organisational perspective. Organisations have been seeking concrete solutions to bring AI use under control and to realize its benefits. We built this service first for ourselves and are excited that we can now offer it to our clients, says Aki Böök, who is responsible for data and AI services at Gofore.
Trims overlapping services and costs
The new AI Landing Zone is a cloud-based platform where various AI services can be brought or created in a unified environment with controlled data security. Gofore has created the first AI Landing Zone on Microsoft’s platform, but as a technology-independent operator, it is prepared to create solutions using other technologies as well.
The platform can be customized with ready-made AI services without needing to change the infrastructure. Development processes also accelerate when various AI services, such as indexing repositories and AI models, are pre-installed on the platform, speeding up deployment or time-to-market.
– The AI Landing Zone is like a laid out, zoned property where production facilities, data centers, or services can be safely built. All development projects, resources, and data flows are visible from one place. A unified platform enables the organization to adhere to the same principles and standards across all projects, Böök explains.
The platform helps to avoid overlapping services and unnecessary additional costs, and uniform operating methods facilitate management while also supporting internal collaboration within the organisation. Information security risks decrease when the platform uses the organisation’s own network and its access control is role-based, with consistent security policies for all applications and data streams. The organisation does not need to use its own resources for the maintenance or development of the platform.
