Gofore was born from the idea of four friends in Tampere in 2001, when the current Chairman of the Board, Timur Kärki, persuaded Petteri Venola, Jani Lammi, and Mika Varjus to start a business with him.
The initial business idea was to develop payment transaction software, from which the company’s name “Go for e” is derived. However, the group soon decided to focus on consulting and selling expertise instead.
The founders wanted to create a culturally strong, value-driven company. Gofore should be the best possible workplace for both themselves and others and would succeed through the successes of its clients. These values continue to guide the company to this day. The four still make up the company’s largest group of individual shareholders.
Through both acquisitions and organic growth, Gofore has grown from a small venture started by four friends into a business employing nearly 1,500 people. Gofore has played a key role in driving digitalisation projects across society in Finland since its founding. Alongside its public sector work, the company has developed a significant presence in the private sector, focusing on the digital transformation of industries such as manufacturing, retail, and services in Finland and across Europe.”
