Lindner Traktoren

An intuitive operating concept for maximum tractor performance

The Tyrolean family business Lindner Traktoren is renowned for its agile vehicles in alpine terrain. With the Lintrac 160, it now presents its most powerful all-round tractor to date. The centrepiece of the new model is a self-explanatory touchscreen display (HMI) that makes operation and control significantly easier. For the design and software of the display, Lindner relied on the expertise of Gofore.

Objective

More functionality, maximum ease of use

Performance and manoeuvrability are Lindner’s hallmarks, as the Tyrolean family firm is the only manufacturer of standard tractors with four-wheel steering. Since October 2025, the Lintrac 160 has joined the product range. It needed to be larger, more powerful, and more versatile than any previous model – without becoming more complicated to operate.

A high-tech vehicle, the Lintrac 160 relies on numerous sensor systems whose functions must be intuitive to use and control for an optimal driving experience. For this reason, the tractor required a larger 10-inch screen on the right-hand armrest in addition to a smaller touchscreen behind the steering wheel, previously developed by Lindner for basic functions. This screen was intended to complement the existing control concept, offering additional information, new functions, and improved ergonomics.

The challenge was to integrate the new display seamlessly with the smaller one, synchronising both to create a consistent, intuitive operating environment. For this, Lindner enlisted a partner with deep technology and agricultural expertise: Gofore.

“The demands on agricultural machinery are constantly increasing. Crucial for efficiency is the HMI – the central interface between driver and vehicle. That’s why our modern tractors feature intelligent, well-thought-out control concepts, adaptable to any working situation and enabling intuitive, high-performance operation.”

Manuel Lindner, Head of Research & Development, Lindner Traktoren

Solution

Forward-thinking planning, intuitive design

The implementation was driven primarily by Lindner’s close relationship with its customers, complemented by Gofore’s long-standing expertise in HMI systems for construction and agricultural machinery. This synergy formed the basis for a solid user analysis.

Based on this, the operating concept was carefully tailored to the needs of operators through user research, prototyping, simulations, and iterative testing in small, agile teams. A key objective was to transfer the logic of the smaller display to the larger one – including adaptation, optimization, and repeated validation.

Intentionally, freely assignable buttons and placeholders were included to allow seamless integration of future technologies. In this way, a technological platform was created on which new systems can grow step by step.

“The collaboration with Gofore was outstanding. What impressed us most was the team’s deep understanding of what an HMI in a tractor should look like. You can tell a huge amount of expertise went into our project.”

Hannes Rieser, Head of Electrical / Electronics & Software, Lindner Traktoren

Result

Improved performance, greater comfort, and broad applicability

A high-performance, responsive HMI touchscreen significantly enhances the efficiency of the Lintrac 160. The large display on the armrest presents numerous functions clearly – from four-wheel steering, hydraulic, engine, and PTO control to button configurations. The display is also ISOBUS compatible, and smart headland management will be integrated in the future. Drivers maintain full control at all times, enabling highly efficient work.

Thanks to the scalable design of the controls, the layout is ergonomically optimised while remaining flexible. Future upgrades and new technologies can be incorporated easily, keeping the tractor future-proof for years to come.

The Lintrac 160’s versatility also allows it to be deployed across a wide range of applications – from grassland and arable farming to municipal work, contract farming, and transport. For users, it’s simply a case of start and go.

Grown from experience, engineered for performance

Collaboration with Gofore was a natural choice: the teams possess extensive experience in agricultural machinery – from embedded and systems development to UX and HMI design. This expertise was applied directly to the development of the Lintrac 160. Even before the start of production in March 2026, the Lintrac 160 was named “Farm Machine of 2026.”
