Gofore speeds up the IoT development at Voith

Gofore has developed a platform for Voith, allowing users in different roles different views of data.

Personalised views facilitate the use of data

Gofore has developed a platform for Voith, allowing users in different roles different views of data.

“The factory management has different needs for information than the production shift manager or operator. Now, a user friendly interface filters and compiles data for each specific user group”, says Heikki Malmlund, Senior Service Architect at Gofore.

“Gofore’s trump card is customer centricity and agility in digital product development. Our common projects are branded by their speed in which ideas are turned into functional code and not just concepts on the drawing board. This collaboration has improved the agile ways of working in our Digital Solutions -unit.” – Dr. Teemu Tunkelo, CTO and EVP, Voith Digital Solutions

An agile project guarantees results

The extensive project is characterised by learning through co-developing and experimenting. The project involves Voith’s own designers and experts. Gofore service designers and developers have conducted user research and conceptualisation. The jointly executed UX-design and software development will continue. The platform is gradually used in pilot mode and various applications will be added over time. The currently developed platform will eventually be applied also for other industrial products.

Various technologies were utilised

This project combines state-of-the-art technologies and deep domain knowledge. Gofore has been involved in building CI/CD pipelines for microservices and front-end applications including their deployment into AWS. Deployment of the containerized microservices are managed via Kubernetes utilising AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) clusters.

Platform’s infrastructure is built using IaaC principles, utilising Terraform for provisioning all resources, starting with S3 buckets and all the way towards EKS clusters.
