Zambia’s National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy represents a critical step forward for the country as it positions itself as a regional leader in AI across Sub-Saharan Africa. As part of the Finnish Government’s African Digital and Green Transformation (ADGT) programme, Gofore’s AI Strategy Consultant Oula Järvinen supported the strategy development.
The AI Strategy highlights key sectors such as energy, healthcare, education, and agriculture, with the aim of achieving measurable progress by 2026. It places a strong emphasis on collaboration with civil society and the active role of entrepreneurs and startups in its implementation, reinforcing the importance of community-driven innovation.

Digitalisation work continues
Gofore’s involvement in Zambia’s AI Strategy is only the beginning of a sustained commitment to supporting the country’s digital transformation. Gofore’s experts have assisted Zambia in further developing its pioneering Diaspora online service. Diaspora is designed to connect expatriate Zambians with opportunities to contribute to their home country’s development.
This mission is part of the broader ADGT programme, which aims to foster good governance and promote digitalisation initiatives that benefit both governments and citizens. Development of the Diaspora online service is one of Zambia’s efforts to create cutting-edge solutions that enable global engagement and strengthen national development.
