This autumn, we have highlighted our experts’ insights and practical experiences with AI in our ‘3+1 thoughts on AI’ series on social media. Five of our experts shared their insights based on 3+1 questions, which also form the basis of this blog’s content.
Our experts’ views centred around the themes of human-centricity, courage, and responsibility. In this blog, we have compiled the best tips for utilising AI based on the series.
The insights were shared by:
- Suvi Leander, Senior Service & Concept Designer
- Päivi Pajunen, Senior Change Consultant
- Veera Eiste, AI Consultant
- Hanna Väinölä, Senior UX/UI Designer

1. Your most important advice for a customer utilising AI solutions
Utilising AI is primarily about a transformation of working life, with humans at the centre. AI is not here to replace people but to empower us to work more efficiently, creatively, and agilely, while also enhancing well-being at work. AI solutions should therefore be designed to improve the meaningfulness of human work.
Expert tips:
- Human-centric design: Focus on user-centred design, where the needs and challenges of end-users guide development. This ensures that the AI solution is easy to use, useful, and meaningful.
- Small experiments and continuous learning: Start boldly with small experiments that provide quick feedback and concrete results. This helps to reduce risks and steer development in the right direction.
- Trust and transparency: Ensure the reliability and ethics of the AI solution by making its operating principles transparent.
2. Describe a situation where a ‘failure’ in your AI work led to significant insights
Utilising AI in work is a continuous learning process where failures provide valuable insights. Effective use of AI requires a shift in mindset and consideration of how best to benefit from it in your role. It is important to understand your role as an AI user; just as AI shapes us, we shape it.
Expert tips:
- AI as a support tool: Use AI to support decision-making and thinking, but leave critical evaluation and final decisions to humans.
- Ethical and inclusive use: Consider the impacts of AI on equality and fairness. Ensure that AI does not reinforce discriminatory practices or stereotypes.
3. Describe a situation that changed your perception of AI’s impact on society
When designing and using AI solutions, it is essential to consider their broader societal impacts. AI can be an effective tool in solving societal problems, but it also raises ethical and security-related issues that must be taken seriously. AI’s role is not just technical; it is a central part of societal change, bringing new job roles and requiring the adoption of new skills.
Expert tips:
- Collaboration between humans and AI: Create models where humans guide and oversee the results produced by AI. This collaboration maximises the benefits of AI and ensures responsibility.
- Critical thinking and safety: Evaluate AI-generated information critically and train users to distinguish reliable data from unreliable.
+1 Which phase of an AI project makes you feel like you are in a ‘flow state’?
A flow state occurs when you immerse yourself in the customers’ context, and theory and practical needs shape into concrete ideas through collaborative innovation. This can happen, for example, after initial preparations and background research, when the first workshops or interviews begin. The best moments are often experienced when hypotheses are tested with real users and customers.
