ESA/JAXA BepiColombo completes sixth flyby of Mercury – Gofore’s subsidiary Huld’s payload software on board

On January 8, 2025, the ESA/JAXA BepiColombo mission completed its sixth and final Mercury flyby, passing just 295 km from the planet’s surface. This maneuver prepares the spacecraft for orbital insertion in late 2026.

Gofore’s subsidiary Huld is proud to provide the control software for two key instruments onboard:

  • MIXS: Mercury Imaging X-Ray Spectrometer
  • SIXS: Solar Intensity X-Ray and Particle Spectrometer

These instruments will begin operations in 2027, contributing to groundbreaking research on Mercury’s origin, evolution, and its role in the solar system.

In addition, Huld’s Independent Software Verification and Validation helped to ensure the overall mission reliability and success.
