Gofore’s software development service area operates at the heart of society and industry. We create impactful digital solutions that make people’s lives easier and improve the competitiveness of businesses. We are now looking for a new Head of Software Development Service Area, who has a passion for growing, developing, delivering customer value, and enabling top-level expert work.
In the Head of Service Area role, you will be responsible for the entirety of the software development service business. You will lead and implement the service area’s business plan, which combines growth goals, customer value, expertise, and delivery capability in a sustainable and profitable manner. You will guide a community of approximately 150 experts together with people leads and key business personnel.
Head of Service Area Responsibilities:
Leading Service Area and Profitable Growth

Lead the software development service business profitably and sustainably

Develop the service offering from the perspective of market needs and profitability

Ensure the utilization rate and capacity management of the service area, considering business needs

Develop delivery and pricing models together with business areas that support customer value and profitability

Identify new growth areas and productization opportunities in collaboration with sales and business
Customer Relationships

Have a broad understanding of Gofore’s key sectors: public sector, intelligent industry, health and well-being, security, retail and services

Work closely with customer account managers, service area heads, and sales

Actively participate in sales and proposal activities, ensuring the correct position and value of software development services in sales processes

Develop the role of software development services as part of a broader service package
Operational Management

Lead the daily operations and continuous development of the service area together with people leads

Develop operating models that ensure efficiency, customer value, and delivery capability

Promote collaboration with other service areas and internal support functions

Ensure that our delivery models are scalable, predictable, and business-efficient
Developing Capabilities and Expertise

Ensure that our software development experts develop technically and consultatively

Build future capabilities such as AI, software robotics, automation, and sustainable software development expertise

Develop communities of expertise and support leadership within the service area

Support skill development from the perspective of sales support and customer understanding

Enable the effective utilization of expertise in deliveries, projects, and customer relationships
Leading Community Wellbeing

Lead and develop a culture where people can grow, be inspired, and make an impact

Strengthen an inclusive, value-based, and psychologically safe work community

Act as a supervisor for people leads and lead experts

Support leadership and develop communities of expertise together with people leads

Ensure the wellbeing and motivation of experts, even during changes

Promote collaboration, openness, and shared responsibility within the service area
What We Expect From You:

Experience and proven track record in leading software development business, driving profitable growth, and developing services on a large scale – in a service business generating tens of millions in annual revenue.

Proven success in software development projects across several key sectors for Gofore, such as the public sector, intelligent industry, health and wellbeing, security and retail and services
-
Vision and experience in business-driven software development and managing the resources and utilization rate of the service area.

Experience and proven track record in active sales, proposal building, and customer dialogue.

Proven success in coordinating proposals over €5M successfully.

Understanding and experience in digital transformation in the public and/or private sector
-
Experience in leading a large community of experts (over 100 experts)

People-oriented and inclusive leadership style

Fluency in Finnish and English

Willingness to travel for customer meetings in the Helsinki metropolitan area
