Finnish company Aidon is a Nordic market leader in smart metering solutions and technology for electricity distribution companies. With over three million delivered devices, Aidon caters to a market that is headed for a digital future. Its main products are remote readers and smart networks.

Aidon’s increasing production and expansion to the Nordic market required them to speed up product development, reduce the need for manual labor and make their processes more cost-effective. They chose Gofore as their solution-oriented partner for developing embedded software and test automation.

”Our collaboration started with embedded systems development and quickly broadened into testing. As the testing automation platform project began, we expanded our team for Aidon from a few people to an expert team of ten,” Gofore’s Business Manager Petri Mähönen says.

The testing automation platform developed together with Gofore has proved to be an important and fruitful investment for Aidon.

“Gofore brought critical technical expertise to the project, and we have now really begun to see the results of this work. The testing platform helps projects stay on schedule and we can maintain a high standard of quality. Gofore’s ability to focus on the solution also meant they brought in the ideas we needed to carry out the project with maximum cost-efficiency,” notes Ilkka Hokkanen, Embedded Systems Architect at Aidon.

As the customer I have been very satisfied with them because Gofore has often reacted to the situation even before we have,” Hokkanen says.

Open and continuous dialogue is important in keeping the partnership straightforward and achieving shared goals quickly. Hokkanen gives credit to Gofore’s experts for their ability to question and challenge the way Aidon works.

”Surely the starting point has to be that the supplier of expertise has stronger knowledge of their field than the client. We have really learned to trust Gofore’s experts. This means, for example, that when I have not been able to attend a meeting with a client, I can send a developer from Gofore in my place without hesitation,” Hokkanen illustrates.

”The turnover rate of our personnel has been very low. We are proud to be able to provide Aidon with a reliable and close-knit team that has deep insight on their products,” Petri Mähönen says.
