I work at Gofore as a Power Platform Developer, meaning the core of my job is developing Power Platform solutions to address various business challenges faced by our customers.
At the moment, I’m working on a project where we’re developing a solution for collecting data from organisations overseen by the customer, and combining the collected data with existing information. The project utilises Dataverse, Power Apps, Power Pages, Azure Functions, and Suomi.fi e-Identification and e-Authorisations.
Combining technical expertise and customer understanding
In my daily work, I use a wide range of Power Platform low-code tools, such as Power Automate for automation, canvas and model-driven apps in Power Apps, and Power Pages. In addition to low-code tools, I implement server-side extensions using C#, as well as user interface customisations and functionalities with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
Like many other companies, Microsoft is also heavily investing in AI within the Power Platform. For example, the Power Platform plan designer, which generates solution plans based on simple descriptions, can significantly streamline the planning and PoC phases of projects. It’s interesting to follow how AI tools evolve and change the way we work.
In addition to technical expertise, my work strongly emphasises understanding the customer. As a consultant, the most important thing is to grasp what the customer truly needs. Sometimes, the customer may not be able to articulate this clearly themselves, which is why it’s crucial to know how to ask the right questions, offer alternatives, and guide the customer in reflecting on their needs.
Motivated by learning and succeeding
What motivates me most in my work is learning new things, whether it’s about the Power Platform and other technologies, or about the industries our customers operate in. It’s also rewarding to develop solutions that genuinely make customers’ everyday work easier, and to receive positive feedback from both customers and colleagues.
I feel that at Gofore I’ve been encouraged to challenge myself and try different things. For example, I’ve had opportunities to try project management, dive into the world of Azure, interview job applicants, and participate as a specialist in sales cases. This way, new things haven’t remained purely theoretical, but I’ve had the chance to try them in practice.
In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, occasionally working on my own coding projects, painting, and spending time with friends.
