We are looking for an experienced project manager for demanding and large-scale projects.

We are seeking a seasoned project manager to lead our strategic and wide-ranging software development projects for both public and private sector clients. Our fixed-price or target-priced projects are often technically and organizationally complex, and we operate in multi-vendor environments. You will be part of the development team, which you will be responsible for leading. You are a key figure in successfully driving change.

As a project manager, you will be fully responsible for managing software development projects from start to finish. You will work closely with the client, stakeholders, and our development team to ensure smooth collaboration, transparent communication, and the achievement of goals.

We are currently hiring directly into a project. This means that while we have ongoing recruitment, we aim to find your first project based on the discussions we’ve had during the recruitment process before making an offer. We believe this improves the employee experience, as we can offer a project immediately when you start at Gofore.

You will have the opportunity to influence whether you join a development or reform project in, for example, healthcare, early childhood education, or the transport sector. We offer genuinely meaningful projects that impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of Finns. Examples of our clients include: Aimo Park, Metso, KEHA, and Elisa.

As an administrative project manager, your responsibilities include

  • Leading the software development project as a whole: planning, budgeting, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting

  • Leading and motivating the development team (including Gofore, partners, and client personnel)

  • Risk management and mitigation, change management, and quality assurance

  • Managing the scope of the software development project

  • Client relationship management and collaboration with steering groups

  • Team resourcing and development of working methods

  • Measuring project progress, cost control, and forecasting

  • Selection of the most suitable project delivery model – waterfall, agile, or hybrid – based on the project’s goals and context

What we expect from you

  • At least 10 years of experience in leading software projects in a multi-vendor environment

  • Proven success in managing large or strategically significant projects

  • Experience in leading development teams

  • Ability to combine business understanding with technical insight

  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage complex entities

  • Experience in handling and resolving challenging situations during projects

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills

  • Experience in successfully managing fixed-price or target-priced projects

  • Understanding of software development processes and agile methodologies

  • Ability to manage and forecast project finances (budgeting, cost tracking, and forecasting)

  • Broad understanding of various project management methodologies and their practical application – including waterfall, agile, and hybrid approaches

  • Fluent in Finnish and English

  • Willingness to travel within Finland

Considered an advantage

  • Relevant higher education degree

  • Certifications (e.g., IPMA, PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe)

  • Experience in public administration or regulated industry projects
