Building digital societies through secure data exchange

Harmony eDelivery Access is a free and open-source solution that enables public authorities, businesses, and solution providers to transfer documents and data securely across the European Union.

With the focus of public services shifting towards a more digitized direction, building digital societies has become a global megatrend that requires robust and reliable solutions. Standardized and secure data exchange is a vital component in enabling this change.

eDelivery is an EU building block that enables secure cross-border data exchange between public authorities, businesses, and solution providers in the European Union. eDelivery ensures data integrity and confidentiality in every transmission through digital signatures and encryption.

eDelivery provides technical specifications and standards, installable software, and ancillary services for creating a network of nodes for secure digital data exchange. By building with eDelivery, public and private organizations from different sectors can easily create a safe and interoperable channel to transfer documents and data over a public or private network.

Harmony makes starting with eDelivery easy

To make the start with eDelivery as easy as possible for potential partners, Gofore was tasked by the Nordic Institute for Interoperability Solutions (NIIS) with packaging a free and open-source access point and service metadata publisher (SMP) solution for joining eDelivery networks.

Gofore researched and documented a high-level architectural description of use cases for the eDelivery digital service infrastructure and productized the solution as Harmony eDelivery Access.

Harmony eDelivery Access provides automated installation, upgrading and configuration processes with additional documentation, best practice recommendations and implementation models. When implemented, Harmony eDelivery Access enables users to exchange data in a standardized, reliable, secure, and trusted manner.

“Despite being more complicated than we initially thought, the project was completed in schedule, and we were extremely satisfied with the outcome. However, the project was just the first step on our eDelivery journey, and we continue to develop Harmony eDelivery Access based on the feedback received from the users,” says Petteri Kivimäki, CTO of NIIS.
